The Texture Club – August 2012

Posted in Texture Club, Textures | 0 comments

August is the second month of the Texture Club and I’m happy to say that all of you have made it a huge success!  Thanks so much for that.

The Texture Club is a place for artists, photographers and designers to get some of the most unique textures, presets, etc. on the web.  I wanted to make it affordable, accessible, and fun.  I think I’ve done just that.  The club is $10/month.  For that $10, you’ll get at least 15 new textures, plus any other tools I create during the month.  I’ll add to the club as I create new things.

Here’s what you’ll get when you join in August:

So far in August, I’ve created the following:

  • 36 unique, super high resolution (18×12″ at 300DPI) textures that you can use as layers in your favorite photo editing application.  They’re standard JPEG files and can be used in Photoshop, Elements or even free tools like The GIMP.
  • 5 PNG overlay glazes that you can use like any other texture.  The difference is that these are partially transparent and do not need you to select a blending mode or transparency in your editing application.   You can think of them as textures with the optimal blending mode preselected.
  • 4 custom color and light actions for Adobe Photoshop.  These will add a unique feel to your images with the click of a button.
  • 2 Vignette actions for Photoshop. You get two vignette choices; a classic vignette to add a subtle camera lens like vignette around your images and a chunky vignette for a bolder approach.
I’ll add more goodies throughout the month, and I do this each month.  Previews are after the jump.

The first month of the Texture Club comes to a close today and it’s been a lot of fun.  A bunch of new textures will be released tomorrow for the August club.  In the mean time, here’s a freebie for you to download.  I’m being a little more bold with my approach lately and would appreciate your feedback!  This texture is the same super-high resolution as all of my other paid textures (18×12″ at 300 DPI).

I got a new camera

I just got a new Nikon D800.  All the reviews I’ve read that say that it’s the best camera ever created… well, they’re right.  It is amazing.  I’ve only had a chance to shoot on a couple lunch breaks so far, but the results are wonderful.  Here’s a  few shots taken with it.
