The Texture Club – February 2013

Posted in Texture Club, Textures | 0 comments

February is the 8th month of the of the Texture Club.   Thanks so much to all of you who keep the texture club going strong!

The Texture Club is a place for artists, photographers and designers to get some of the most unique textures, presets, etc. on the web.  I wanted to make it affordable, accessible, and fun.  I think I’ve done just that.  The club is $10/month.  For that $10, you’ll get at least 15 new textures, plus any other tools I create during the month.  I’ll add to the club as I create new things.

Here’s what you’ll get when you join in February:

To start February, I’ve created the following:

  • 30 unique, super high resolution (18×12″ at 300DPI) textures that you can use as layers in your favorite photo editing application.  They’re standard JPEG files and can be used any layers compatible application like Photoshop, Elements, Paint Shop Pro or even free tools like The GIMP.    These textures will work well on portraits, nature and just about any other type of work you can think of.
  • 5 new PNG tint overlays.  These overlays can be used like a texture in various blending modes, but they’re intended for use in the “color” blending mode.  They’ll add a unique quality to your black and white work… but try them on color too!
I’ve received a number of questions about the license of the files I provide in the Texture Club.  They’re all open licensed.  You can use them for your commercial work without limitation.  The only thing I ask is that you not sell derivative textures or presets.

100 Hand Painted Art Textures: The Painter’s Collection

Posted in Featured, Painter's Collection, Textures | 0 comments

There are a lot of textures around the Internet.  Many of them are quite good, but most of them share a couple common themes.  Most are created from photographs and most are created in very neutral colored tones.  I wanted to do something different and unique!

Introducing the Painter’s Collection

The Painter’s collection is a new collection of 100 fine art, super high resolution textures.  They’re all completely hand painted in Photoshop and Corel Painter.  They’re bolder than the usual textures, both in color and in range of style.  Some are grungy, others are more subtle, and every one of them is unique.  I like to think of each texture as a unique work of art all its own.  The textures are 18×12″ at 300DPI, which means they’re great for use with high resolution images like those from the D800 and 5D Mark III.  They also work great for illustration and any other artistic use you can think of.  They are standard JPEG files and can be used in any layers capable photo editing application like Photoshop, Elements or The Gimp.

When you purchase the textures, you purchase an open licensed set of artistic tools that can be used for any commercial purposes.  I love seeing what people create with them, and I invite you to share your work on my Facebook page.  I also like to cater to those just starting out with textures.  If you have questions about how to use them, feel free to drop me a note on Facebook, or contact me here.
